WALK IN FORGIVENESS
Jesus reminds us that forgiving others is a central part of our walk with God and clarifies that our willingness to forgive others is directly tied to God forgiving us.
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14
The forgiveness we desire from God is linked to the way we treat those who have wronged us. It can be difficult to forgive when we have been hurt. Our instinct is to hold on to the pain, replay the offense in our minds, and let bitterness take root. That is not what Jesus calls us to do. He calls us to something greater. When we choose to forgive, we reflect the heart of God, who has forgiven us.
Think about how much God has forgiven you. God has wiped every mistake, misstep, and failure clean through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. That is the standard of forgiveness He calls you to offer others.
Forgiveness is freeing, not only for the person you forgive but for yourself. When you hold on to anger or resentment, it weighs you down. It affects your relationship with God and those around you. When you forgive, it opens the door for healing and restoration.
Ask God to give you the strength to forgive those who have wronged you. Release the hurt, and let His love fill your heart. As you do, you will find that His forgiveness flows into your life, and His love will help you every step of the way.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for all the forgiveness You have granted me all these years. You know my inward thoughts, and you know all things. Teach me to love, forgive, and give to others as You have forgiven me. You are my life, and You have given me life in You. Please let this same love flow from me to others. Thank You, Father. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
